Privacy Policy
Memory Lane uses location to return a memory where it belongs. This policy explains what we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you.
Information you provide
Account information can include your name, email address, verified phone number, profile photo, sign-in provider, About Me text, and settings. Memories can include photos, short videos, audience choices, a location, a creation date, and an optional future unlock date. Business accounts can also provide an official business name, address, contact details, services, menus, and other attachments.
Location and nearby discovery
Memory locations are stored so eligible memories can appear within their configured radius. The app processes your current device location while location-based screens are active to decide what you may see. Nearby-person discovery is optional, uses an approximate 14-meter range, does not show exact coordinates to other members, and removes recent presence after about 15 minutes. A verified business address is geocoded and anchors business posts to the plan radius.
Contacts and social features
If you choose contact discovery, selected device contacts or authorized Google contacts are used to find members who opted in. Raw address books are not stored as a server-side contact list; eligible identifiers are normalized and matched through a protected one-way index. Facebook access is limited by the permissions Facebook makes available. Connections require acceptance. Blocks remove people from search, requests, nearby discovery, and non-public sharing.
Comments, reactions, ratings, and reports
Your display name and content are shown to people who are eligible to view the related memory or business. Reports are shared with authorized moderators. We may hide or remove abusive content, suspend accounts, and preserve limited records needed to address fraud, safety, or legal obligations.
Business insights
When an eligible business story is actually viewed or used, Memory Lane may count impressions, profile visits, business-action taps, video starts, watch time, and completions. We do not give businesses viewer names, exact viewer locations, IP addresses, or device identifiers. Viewer account IDs are converted to protected business-specific pseudonyms, small audience totals are withheld, and detailed analytics records expire after about 100 days.
Payments and service providers
Stripe hosts subscription checkout and billing management. Memory Lane does not receive or store full card numbers. Firebase supports authentication, database, notifications, storage, analytics, and crash reporting. Cloud infrastructure supports hosting, security scanning, and deletion jobs. These providers process information under their own terms and security programs.
Retention, deletion, and security
We keep account and content data while your account is active and as needed to operate, secure, and comply with the law. Nearby presence expires automatically. You can request account deletion from the app; paid subscriptions must first be canceled. Deletion is processed through a protected job, subject to limited legal, fraud-prevention, backup, and transaction-record retention. Uploads are checked for supported formats and malware, but no online system is perfectly secure.
Your choices
You can choose Public, Friends, or Private for a memory; disable nearby visibility; decline contact access; block or unblock members; edit eligible profile information; manage billing through Stripe; and request access, correction, or deletion. Memory Lane is not directed to children under 13.
Request account or data deletion
For Memory LN (Memory Lane), open your profile in the app, choose Settings, then Delete account. Business Studio users can also use account settings. Cancel an active business subscription first. Account deletion removes your profile, memories, private Mirror journal, business content, uploads, connections, and ratings through a protected deletion job.
You can delete selected memories and posts from your profile, or selected conversations or your entire journal from Journal, without deleting your account. If you cannot use the app or website, email goharalm@gmail.com with the subject “Memory LN account deletion” or “Memory LN data deletion.” Identify the account and, for a partial request, the data you want removed. Do not send a password. We may ask you to verify ownership before acting.
Some limited records are retained for safety, legal, or fraud-prevention purposes: contact requests for 90 days, closed safety reports for 180 days, and administrator audit records for one year. Open safety reports may remain until resolved. A reported Mirror exchange may therefore remain in the restricted safety record after it is removed from your journal.
Private Mirror and journal
When you turn Mirror on, the app uses your camera and microphone with permission. Your phone’s speech-recognition service transcribes what you say and may process audio remotely. Your selected text-to-speech service may also process reply text remotely to read answers aloud. DeepSeek receives your question and relevant saved journal statements to generate a reply. In rear-camera mode, one camera image is sent with each question. Memory Lane does not store those images or original audio as journal recordings. Questions and replies are encrypted in storage and accessible through your signed-in account; they are not social posts. You can review and delete individual conversations or your full journal from your profile. Deleted entries are excluded from future personal recall; other retained statements about the same fact may still be used. Conversations remain until you delete them or your account. AI responses can be inaccurate. Turn Mirror off or leave the app to stop camera and microphone use.
Selfie-camera images stay on your phone unless you explicitly enable Share my view for the current Mirror session. When enabled, one selfie-camera still is sent to DeepSeek with each spoken question so Mirror can discuss visible details. This is not a continuous video stream, and the image is not saved in your journal. Turn View off to continue with voice only. Turning Mirror off, leaving the app, or changing accounts ends selfie sharing; a new session starts with sharing off.
You can report a Mirror reply from your journal without leaving the app. If you confirm, only the selected question and reply, your report reason, and your account identifier are shared with authorized reviewers. The selected exchange stays encrypted in storage and is not published or added to another user's journal. This safety-report copy can remain after you delete the original journal entry; closed reports are removed after 180 days. No other journal entries, camera images, or audio are included.
Phone notifications
Phone alerts are optional and have separate controls for friends, comments, reactions, messages, and time capsules. Firebase device tokens connect alerts to your signed-in account. Lock-screen alerts use general descriptions rather than private conversation contents or exact locations. Inactive device registrations expire after 90 days, and signing out disables alerts for that account on the device.
Questions or requests can be sent through the Memory Lane contact form.
